First Year Overview - 5 Modules
First Semester
A module is about 4 or 8 weeks most of the time. All modules together count for 20% of your final grade, and the annual exams and oral exams (vivas) count for 80% of your grade. So yeah, no pressure!!
Not to scare or demotivate you, first semester is not easy, especially Foundation Module. You're new to med school and Karachi, probably won't be knowing a lot of people at first, and will be missing home, I know I was and still do.
At first, you'll feel like there are a million different ways to study. People will always bring up the ways they study and how it helps them, but don't fall into that trap. It'll only make you question your own methods and that causes chaos, trust me.
Foundation - 6 weeks + 2 weeks
-Genetics/Sub-Foundation - 2 weeks
Blood Module - 8 weeks
2nd Semester
Locomotor - 8 weeks
Respiratory - 4 weeks
Cardiology - 4 weeks

So, keep experimenting, but don't just change your way because people find their methods better. Remember, YOU are YOU, and soon you will figure out how you study the best. It took me more than a semester to figure out how to study, and it will never be perfect; there's just too many factors, and it can be different for each subject.
Another thing to be wary of, a lot of times it will look like everyone you see is studying. Could be true, or it could be for show. Chances are they are as confused as the next person. It may seem like everyone is getting ahead, but please take your time. It's better to have a solid foundation and develop discipline than to worry about falling behind and jeopardizing your time.
The number one tip from me personally is to WRITE down your notes, these will always come in handy later, especially when you start studying before module tests and especially annual exams.
Now for some good news.

*First years usually get about 20-30 days off for summer and a couple of weeks of winter break after annual exams as well.
*Usually Dow will provide 2-3 weeks of preparation leave before the end of year exams.
